You have probably the coolest smiley I’ve ever seen! It makes mine suck! I wish I could change it but I can’t8

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "Haha, thanks. I do try 12"

Thanks for stopping by Morgan! I appreciate any comments! Once I read yours I’ll return the favor. Hope you feel better mate!

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "My pleasure. I printed off your Crumbled Kingdom series, looks good so far, I am about 1/2 way through, been a hectic couple of days. I will comment as soon as I finish up with them though!"

hey Morgan, just checking in. I got a job as a freelance writer for my newspaper, so my writing time has been all but eliminated. 8 Hopefully once I get some other stuff done, I’ll have more time.

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "I’m managing. My time has been filled with household repairs. I have rerun the electric & put in a new fuse box, fixed the plumbing in the laundry room, put in 4 new windows, put up a new picket fence, and today I am putting on a new back door. Trying to get as much as possible done before winter rolls around!

What kind of articles are you doing for the paper? I used to do a column in my campus paper doing reviews of movies and comics. That was quite a while ago in my freshman year though. It was a lot of fun."

lol should’ve hired me, I can do that sort of thing.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard where you live, but its about the Natural Gas industry down here and how its affecting our area.

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "The Marcellus (sp?) Shale? It has been mentioned, and a few places drilled around here, but there has not been any major impact yet. Last I knew the local government put a halt to drilling until they get more info on the effects and such. They had some guy from New Mexico come up for a board meeting about it too."

its hitting us hard. Roads are getting wrecked, people are getting methane in their water, alot of money is being spent and made. Other than that though, its had a positive effect on the local econmy.

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "Ahhh. Sounds like corporate greed to me. I, personally, don’t think it is worth the adverse health, especially on children. That is about what the guy from NM said. I looked up his speech last night, and he mentioned that families were displaced, health problems from chemicals getting in water supplies, noise issues, and a few other things.

Then again, maybe if it was handled right, by companies not out to make $$$ (yeah right) it might be something more like Bolivia, were their natural gas was handed over to the people, who decide what to do with it. They have machinery, cars, trucks, farm equipment, and more that all runs off of it, saving them from using actual gasoline (thus, saving the country $$). Interestingly, they also only hire pretty woman in skimpy clothes to run the gas stations and pump gas for the customers, lol."

Most of the companies are very clean and thorough. There’s a drilling sight about 1000 ft from our property and we havent had a problem as of yet. They say there’s enough gas here to last a very long time (I’ve heard anything from 50 to 100 years.) So as long as the companies keep their noses clean, they’ll be able to do what they want.

However, the state is being much more greedy than the companies. I could go on forever, but right now the state is trying to tax the gas 3 times before it even fuels houses and cars.

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "Has the state / local community began doing much with the gas down there? I know here, we have not seen it used in any way, shape, or form (at least not locally). I am rather curious what they are doing with the gas."

Please use the red pen on the story and let me know what you’ve found. You didn’t make the comment that you liked the story so I’m a little concerned.

:-) Morgan A Grover replies: "Oh, no, lol. I did not mean that. I actually enjoyed the story very much, so now you need to get going on the next chapter! I just pointed out some areas that made me question. I will send it to you in a bit. It looks good though."

Right now we’re still in the drilling process and companies are still running pipelines (matter of fact, we had a pipeline installed in the back of our property). So there has been little gas being put "online" or shipped out. It hasnt been used locally yet, but it is used for heating large buildings, such as warehouses and factories. I’ll have to ask Dad for details, he knows alot about natural gas.

There is a plus side though. My aunt knows a local farmer who just got his first monthly royalty check. He got $250,000, and thats just the first month. With how much land is worth now, housing has become a real problem because no one can afford to buy land and rent rates have gone through the roof.
